Great product for the price
I spent several months looking at CD/DVD storage units online and in stores, and finally settled on this one (shipped from Target). I paid $27.95 + $27.95 for shipping. That sounds like a lot to pay for shipping, but trust me, there's not many units like this for under $60 in stores. Most I've seen are closer to $100, so I think the value is great, even when paying nearly $28 to ship it. This unit is attractive and holds a surprise number of CD's or DVD's. I thought my CD's would fill this thing up, but there are still 2 empty rows!
As far as construction, it's not the best, but not the worst either. I have noticed after having CD's on it for a month that the shelves are sagging slightly. It's not bad enough that most people would notice, but I am worried it's going to get much worse over time. Then again, all composite wood furniture I've ever had has done this. If you want something that's going to last forever, you need to spend a LOT more money and buy...

Exceptional Value for the Price
Having a huge DVD collection, I looked for a long time for the perfect storage units without luck. A lot of bookcases are designed to be multipurpose, which is great if you've got VHS tapes (who does?) or want to store books, CDs and DVDs together -- the problem is, those arrangements waste a lot of space, so cut down on the storage. Consequently, I kept seeing units that would either hold a hundred DVDs for 1.5 times the price of this unit, or a single unit that would hold about two thirds of my collection, but which was also very expensive and huge, and I didn't feel like spending close to six hundred dollars while overpowering my media room with a pair of behemoths.
The Sauder Multimedia Storage Tower is designed specifically for DVD or CD storage with fully adjustable shelves, and I mean fully -- unlike other units, the peg holes on the sides start a couple of inches up from the bottom, then go in about one inch increments all the way up. No wasted space for a DVD...
Very good quality for price!
I was pretty nervous purchasing this after reading some of the reviews, but we desperately needed something to hold our DVD's and I figured that if it wasn't good quality, I'd only be out $45. Luckily, its not bad at all! It is shorter than it appears, but that's only because the picture shows CD's rather than DVD's. I'm 5'8 and the case comes up to about my chest. If you plan on storing DVD's as opposed to CD's, you can only use four of the shelves, but that's still not too bad on storage space, and with the price, you could always buy two and sit them side by side. It is decently sturdy, but less so on carpet. Assembly was super easy, though the instructions were a little confusing at times. Nonetheless, I assembled it without any problems. I'm very pleased with my purchase. Its obviously not as nice as a $200 case, but its not horrible quality.
The best thing about this product, is that even with Standard Shipping, it came in TWO DAYS. I ordered it on a Sunday night...
